Inside the ink-jet print cartridge is a collapsible bladder full of water-soluble ink. The ink feeds into the nozzles at the front of the cartridge. Here, it either is heated or squeezed by the nozzles, to spray it onto the paper. The thin plastic bladder collapses as ink is removed . This keeps air bubbles out of the ink which otherwise would cause spattering during printing.
